Ash Sarkar Meets Spike Lee | BLACKkKLANSMAN

Ash sat down with Spike Lee to talk cops, Kanye, and why an honest racist is better than a respectable liberal. BLACKkKkLANSMAN is in UK cinemas on 24th August.

BlacKkKlansmanWould you rather be around someone who is open about their racist views, or someone who hides them? We all have prejudices against each other, but it is clearly a bigger issue when it becomes racist. Racism can put road blocks in your path, where simple prejudices can just piss you off….but you can get past it. I’d like to know that someone hates me so I can avoid them, and adjust my surroundings. Racism is such an old issue, i’m so annoyed that it’s taking us this long to realize how silly it is.

The film BLACKkKkLANSMAN shows us just how stupid racism is. How can you hate people you’ve never met? We forget that everyone is an individual, and that allows us to be unpredictable. Human beings are not all the same. So to hate a group of people is telling them that they all share the same characteristics, which is not human. In some cultures, people pass on this ignorance to their children. We still divide each other in groups for crime stats , education, IQ score averages and voting. If we know that generalizing is wrong, why do we still have these separations dividing us in government programs?  The reason is, our world is still stuck on low level thinking. We haven’t evolved as human beings and on earth, hate is more powerful than love.  Anyway, thats just my opinion on things….what’s yours?

OLD PHOTOS OF NYC FROM 1960 – 1980

Screen Shot 2018-07-29 at 11.27.58 AMI have so many memories of the way NYC looked in the 80s, it was a wild place y’all. My mother would love to take us to the Museum of Natural History so we took the bus there on the weekends. As soon as you get off the bus you can smell the piss and funk coming off the street. Right in front of the Port Authority there was garbage everywhere, you had to watch your feet. Walking down 42nd street was fun. My mother hated it, because there were so many porn shops and sex shows all over. I loved it. (lol) As bad as the city looked, we enjoyed ourselves. NYC has a personality of it’s own, New York is like that crazy family member who always make the party fun. Over time they cleaned up the area, but we lost some of the flavor NY had. I believe crime is lower than it used to be, which is good. People would get robbed and beat up on the trains everyday. Even with all of this crazy shit going on, we loved to go there for the culture, the food and to see something totally different from New Jersey. I did not take these photos, but this is the style of street photography I love. Play the music when you view the photos, it helps the experience.

Scott Storch mini Documentary

There are few music careers like that of Scott Storch. The esteemed producer-songwriter made his initial mark in Philly as a key member of the Roots. A great start, but just the beginning of a wild ride to the top. Storch’s way with crafting hooks and shaping melodies, as well as his knack of being in the right place at the right time, brought him to Cali, where the inspired keyboardist began shaping the sound of pop, hip-hop and R&B, working with an array of artists that stretch from Dr. Dre and Beyoncé to 50 Cent Christina Aguilera. The hits rolled in, the money stacked up, and creativity exploded. A big chunk of the 2000’s best music has Storch’s name on it. Then, through a string of drug troubles and monetary woes, he dropped out of sight for decade. It was the music’s loss. Now he’s back in action, and our intimate profile ‘Still Storch’ paints a portrait of a man who’s seen it all and is still cranking out great tracks. These days his studio hosts artists such as French Montana, Chris Brown, A$AP Ferg as well as talented newcomers like Kyle and Thutmose. A victory come-back. For hip-hop fans, ‘Still Storch’ is a must-see mini-doc, an extended look at talent, addiction, and an unyielding passion for artistry.

New York City – American Museum of Natural History

img_1303-2We took a trip to the American Museum of Natural History in NYC, I took many photos. A good day to go is Sunday. Saturday is very packed and everybody is irritable and hot. Try carrying some water and a map of the museum, it helps. Some of the exhibits cost more money so bring some extra funds. I really enjoyed my time here. I’ve been here many times as a kid, but as an adult there is a greater appreciation of everything shown here.

Below is my equipment list. Play some music and enjoy the photos. Peace!!!
