We had a short visit to New Orleans this year, but we were able to grab a few videos here and there of the city including this tribute for Aretha Franklin in Treme. The people were singing loud with so much passion and love for Aretha. The entire day was filled with emotions and the city showed as much love as they could. People were dancing and laughing, I never saw anything so beautiful. I know New Orleans is where I need to be. I never felt this way about any other place.
Canon G7X mark II I had to grab my handy G7X for this video. I needed something quick and easy to grab for photos on the go. I didn’t have time to carry around a bunch of lenses and for night time photography this camera is easy to put away and it fits in my jean pocket. I’ve had this camera for about 3 months and I think it’s just as good as any DSLR on the market with 24 mega pixels and 1080P video.

MARDI GRAS FEB 2018 – Fat Tuesday in New Orleans, I filmed some of the floats and bands performing. I have more footage coming soon. I used the Canon 80D and the Canon 10-22mm lens with the 50mm f1.8 as a backup. Enjoy. https://ronalpha.com
The first 3 days of my trip to New Orleans I spent taking as many photos as I could. People walked up to me asking for a photo and I am so grateful for that. It made my job easy. My camera bag is full of lenses, but I used these 3 lenses the most. Today I used the Canon 50mm F1.8, Canon 10-22mm, Canon 70-300mm
In this episode we followed the 9th Ward Navajo indians of New Orleans. Lets see if The BIG CHIEF has what it takes. By the looks of it, he’s going to be alright. I filmed scenes from all over New Orleans, this is what you will see when you come here. The city is beautiful. The people are awesome, from rich to poor they all have something to share. Whenever I travel to New Orleans I feel at home, almost like a 2nd home for me. Enjoy the video!!!

Here are some photos from my trips to New Orleans this past year. I used all of my lenses on these photos. I walked around asking people to take photos of them, people were more than happy to pose for me. People love to be loved, they love attention and it makes them feel good to feel important. I don’t care how you look on the outside, your smile and spirit is what I want to capture. I hope you enjoy my photos, feel free to critique them….enjoy!!!

Super Sunday – March 19, 2017
Aside from Mardi Gras Day, the most significant day for the Mardi Gras Indians is their Super Sunday. The New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian Council always has their Indian Sunday on the third Sunday of March, around St. Joseph’s Day. Their festivities begin at noon in A.L. Davis Park (at Washington & LaSalle Streets) where the Mardi Gras Indians once again dress in their feathers and suits and take to the streets to meet other tribes.

I filmed scenes from all over New Orleans, this is what you will see when you come here. The city is beautiful. The people are awesome, from rich to poor they all have something to share. The video may be a bit long, but I just wanted to throw in as many small cool shots as I could for the viewer to see. I might redo this video and make smaller versions of it. Whenever I travel to New Orleans I feel at home, almost like a 2nd home for me. Enjoy the video!!!
On Frenchman street New Orleans we found the best brass band around. The Young Fellas Brass Band, They shut it down!!! These young guys played so well, it was amazing. They had people on every corner watching them, there must have been 100 people on the street. Look for them on facebook and youtube.
