Philadelphia, P.A. – Photos of Eastern State Penitentiary – America’s Most Historic and Haunted Prison

img_1303-2Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, this was the world’s first true “penitentiary,” a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of prisoners. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America’s most notorious criminals, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and Al Capone. I took a bunch of photos with my Canon 80D and Sony a6000. I took 5 lenses with me, thats all that could fit in my small camera bag. This was place spooky and cold. I got some good shots, but I would’ve loved to take video. They didn’t want anybody taking videos at all, that was a bummer. We spent about 3 hours there. There is an audio self guided tour you can take for $14. The story of the prison even crazier than the photos. If you want something to do any day during the week come check out Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. They are open from 10am – 5pm everyday. I really enjoyed my time here.

Atlantic City, NJ : Canon 80D, DJI OSMO, 10-22mm Lens

Here are some clips from Atlantic City, NJ. I drove around the city and enjoyed the people and spent some time on the beach/boardwalk. I used to Canon 80D and the DJI OSMO to record these scenes in Atlantic City. Its not easy walking around with a big ass camera, so I’m looking into purchasing something small and easy to hide when I’m on the go. What do you film with and what are some tricks and tips you think I need to add to my videos. Any editing software worth getting?

Casey Neistat – FILMMAKING IS A SPORT

New York City – American Museum of Natural History

img_1303-2We took a trip to the American Museum of Natural History in NYC, I took many photos. A good day to go is Sunday. Saturday is very packed and everybody is irritable and hot. Try carrying some water and a map of the museum, it helps. Some of the exhibits cost more money so bring some extra funds. I really enjoyed my time here. I’ve been here many times as a kid, but as an adult there is a greater appreciation of everything shown here.

Below is my equipment list. Play some music and enjoy the photos. Peace!!!

Commlite Auto-Focus Mount Adapter EF-NEX for Canon EF to Sony NEX Mount

Screen Shot 2017-11-19 at 3.30.01 PM.png

img_1303-2This is the Commlite mount adapter, it allows you to put Canon lenses on Sony cameras and use the auto focus feature. I love it, I used it yesterday and it worked so well. The auto focus is not as fast as I would like it to be, but for the price its not that bad. I tested a few lenses on it. The Sony camera I use is the Sony a6000, a great mirrorless camera. I particularly like the Canon 50mm lens with the a6000, they work well together. For photos this works great, but for film and video it is not a great combination. If you are OK with using manual focus then you can get excellent results. I have seen some more expensive converters on amazon about 3 times the price of this one. In my personal opinion, the converter I buy shouldn’t be worth more than the lens itself. I think for more professional photographers this would be an option, but if you’re just a beginner save the money and go with this one.

(Canon 10-22mm, 10-18mm, 24mm & the 50mm f1.8)

A few weeks earlier I purchased another converter for $14, but that was a piece of garbage. Be cheap, but don’t be too cheap haha. This lens didn’t have autofocus, it basically just connected my lenses to the camera and nothing else. I couldn’t even manual focus. With my next purchase, I can say I found what I was looking for with the Comix Mount.

Below are photos of my a6000 with a Canon 10-22mm lens connected to it using the Comix lens converter.

My rating for this purchase:

DIY – product photography – overhead view

MUSIC BY RAPHAEL SADIQ

DIY product photography – overhead view

1. Get some cheap wood and make a rectangle out of 4 pieces. Tall enough for your camera to hover above the table.

2. Get yourself an adjustable tripod head. Like this one.

3. Get some screws and screw this to the top of the wood. Like this…

4. Get an external monitor and place it next to you to view what the camera is capturing.

5. Buy a nice clothe or anything to make the table look presentable.

6. Use a wide angle lens for large products and a 50mm lens for smaller objects.

7. Make sure you have lights and a reflector and you are done.

This is a lot cheaper than buying this.

Photos from my trips to New Orleans this year.

img_1303Here are some photos from my trips to New Orleans this past year. I used all of my lenses on these photos. I walked around asking people to take photos of them, people were more than happy to pose for me. People love to be loved, they love attention and it makes them feel good to feel important. I don’t care how you look on the outside, your smile and spirit is what I want to capture. I hope you enjoy my photos, feel free to critique them….enjoy!!!
